"Spot X & Spot Y with a little Spot Z"

Back from a weekend surfing in N. Devon.

Had a pretty good time :)
Went down on Thursday night and stopped over the usual truck stop for the night. We met up with our buddy Craig at 08:00 on Friday morning at the services - superb timing - so had a quick squirt and a bevvy and headed down to the beach.

Weather was pretty bad - almost constant rain and a chilly wind (I had a bit of the "chilli wind" on Saturday night much to the annoyance of Nic!). On the up side, we were greeted with some pretty sizeable waves. Croyde was real messy and breaking right on the beach - so we headed round to Puts. As always Puts treated us well :) I got me gun out (still need more practice on this puppy - but getting there) and we all knobbed about in the shallows - it was too boisterous to get out.

Having spent a fair time in the sea, fully gimped up (it was fooking freezing!), we headed back to the camp site. The field we were in was like a bog - well not like a bog - it was a bog! We moved to a drier patch the next day.

Friday night was fun and the first plans for our surf film were put into place. Obviously I can't go into massive detail just yet, but rest assured it will be special.

Saturday proved to be a bad day for me. Craig had broke his gun out and was having a good'un. Nic was popping out some good moves as well. Me - it looked like I'd never done it before :( I got major slammed, twice, trying to get out back so after a short session I headed to van for a cuppa with Craig in tow. Nic stayed out and was loving it. After moving to a drier spot on the camp site, night rolled in and we settled down for another night of rummy, biscuits and booze.

Croyde and Puts were both pretty weak on Sunday morning, so we headed to back towards Saunton. I'm so pleased we did. the conditions were sweeeet! Smaller, but real clean and a great period :) We suited and booted real quick (for a change!) and took the long walk to the sea (tide was out). A perfect longboard day today - so having spent a couple of minutes with Nic making sure she was applying the previous nights techniques that we had all discussed, I headed out back and rocked it up :) I managed to get some real clean waves and a bitta stylee with a few hang fives. Nic & Craig were both having a great session as well.

Sunday made the weekend for me :)

It was good to have Craig along for a change - our first official outing together. He just needs to convince his Mrs to don a suit and gimp mask, then we're laughing!

Roll on the next one...

Clients From Hell

My good friend Samski suggested I take a regular look at the clients from hell site - some stunning work going on there :)

Here's a little taster

The BBC
Client: “We would like our commercial to run on BBC1.”
Me: “The BBC are not a commercial organisation.  They don’t run ads.”
Client: “Well you are supposed to be the big media-man, you need to get us on BBC1!”
Me: “No one can run commercials on the BBC, they don’t show commercials.”
Client: “So we can totally own the BBC if there are no other advertisers!  This is going to be great.”
Me: “No. It’s not.”

Pick Up 3

Now I've been trying to do this now for a few years: Pick Up 3. Well, at least one anyway ;) Sometimes it's just not possible - but most of the time it's quite easy!

The biggest thing I've binned is a BBQ!

Would be nicer if these dicks didn't leave their stuff on the beaches in the first place...

Fantastic Shaper

After posting up "Gonna Be Greasing Me Barrings", I thought I should share my (to date) all time favourite Vimeo video - so here it is - the perfect 40 minute board.

Old Guys Rule :)

Gonna Be Greasing Me Barrings

Loving a bit of this from Rayne longboards - makes me wish summer was a bit closer to go out cruising...

Snowboarding in Tignes (Feb 2010)

We (me & the Mrs) decided to do a last minute dart over to Tignes in France for a snowboard session in Feb. Mixed sort of affair really this time. The first couple of days we had stunning sunny weather and the snow and mountains were sweet!

From there on in, it went downhill. An almost constant white-out and one day we had about 1m of snow fall. The snow fall was superb - the fact that we couldn't see our feet was not so hot! Got to be fair though, in all the years it's the first time we have been away and had so much bad weather...

We stayed in an apartment block called Homeau de Borsat - needless to say, that was quickly renamed to Homo de Borat. Pretty basic but fine. Although the cheeky gits did charge for any extras, towels 'n' all that stuff...

A nice view:

Me :)

And the Nickers!

Nic managed to successfully make her way down the Olympic downhill run in Val d'Isere as well - hell, some of that was very steep!

Would we go back? Yeah probably. It's pretty spenny but loads of mountain and loads of very accessible off-piste :)

I'm on Blogger

Well, I suppose my first post should be to say that I am on Blogger and giving this whole blogging caper a go.

Hopefully it will be useful to some people and possibly to me to help me remember stuff I forget!
